Items of "Other Charges" in the

nature of "Special Expenditure" which require Your Lord-

-ship's sanction are $2,500 under the head 'Harbour

Master's Department' for re-coppering the Steam Tender

"Stanley"; $10,000 under the same head to cover cost of

installing Matthews Incandescent Oil Burners in Gap Rock,

Waglan Island and Green Island Lighthouses; $2,543 under

'Judicial and Legal Departments' to provide books and

furniture for the new Crown Solicitor's Office; $5,000

under 'Fire Brigade' to meet cost of installing Street Fire

Alarms; $20,000 under 'Sanitary Department' to cover cost

of 2 Steam Barges and 3 Lighters in connection with the

departmental disposal of refuse, the reasons for acquir-

-ing these vessels being given in the Appendix to the

Estimates.

The principal non-recurrent items

provide furniture for offices for the additional staff;
